About Zachary
Zachary Zinser is a performing musician and music educator located in Concord, NC. He specializes in piano/keyboard, bass guitar, music theory and listening skills. As a music theorist, he taught at Butler University, Ball State University, Indiana University, The Ohio State University, and most recently, Wake Forest University. Earning his PhD in Music Theory from Indiana University in 2020, Zachary has extensive expertise in group teaching and individual mentorship, in-person and virtual settings, and course design to be informative, engaging, and, most importantly, fun. Zachary has many years of experience teaching a broad range of musical genres inside and outside classroom settings as a versatile pedagogue who enjoys cultivating relationships with students and adapting his approach to best serve each student toward their specific goals.
Zachary has been a pianist for 30 years, earning a Bachelor’s of Music in Piano Performance from Indiana University. Zachary grew up in southern California, and his eclectic stylistic interests and desire to join his family’s band led him to learn the bass guitar and piano at an early age. Performing with several different groups throughout the San Diego area, Zachary excels at providing personalized musical entertainment for any occasion. From classical to jazz to pop, Zachary has years of both performing and teaching experience in a wide variety of contexts. He has taught students of all ages, backgrounds, and levels.
